It's all downhill from here! It's almost Spring Break! We have a lot on our plate this week: A field trip to the Bechtler Museum, Fun Run, and the last day of the quarter which means report cards come out soon!
In Cougar's Call: On Monday we will leave for the Becthler Museum! We will ride to the museum at 9:45 and plan to return to school by 11:15 before lunch. Please make sure your child is at school on time tomorrow! Wednesday we will work with our new spelling words for the month, as well as vocabulary practice. Wordly Wise 8 packets are due Thursday, March 30th. On Tuesday and Thursday we will switch for Math Blitz where students will focus on multiplication strategies. In Math this week we are moving into division strategies. This is typically difficult for students that still struggle with multiplication facts. (Flash cards or practice multiplication worksheets may be a great use of time on long vacation car rides ;) I have some I can even send home with your child!) In Literacy we will spend the week discussing folktales and fables. We will work on close reading strategies as well as comparing and contrasting these short stories. In writing we are using cursive to answer questions in complete sentences and write well-thought out paragraphs (topic sentence, 3 detail sentences with transition words and a concluding sentence). In Integrated Studies we are continuing our study on animal adaptions. On Wednesday students will begin the end of the unit project. This project has 2 parts: one part to be completed at school and the other part at home. Students will pick an animal that lives in North Carolina, research that animal and predict an environmental stressor and adaption that may take place in the animals far future. You will receive more information on this project in Cougar Folders on Monday!
