Welcome to 4th Grade!
Stay up to date with current events happening in our class!
Thank you all for being flexible with all of our testing for the past week. We are on the home stretch! Just one more district test Tuesday and a formal math test Friday. Yay! Here's more info:
Math: This week students will continue to focus on division. Over the week, they will learn different strategies to use to divide multi-digit numbers as well as interpret remainders. On Thursday students will review their math study guide (their homework for the week). On Friday students will take a formal test on division. Literacy: Over the week students will integrate information from two separate texts. They will compare and contrast these different texts and be able to discuss the similarities and differences. Writing: Because our 3-paragraph essay on the American Revolution is for a formal grade, we will spend the week editing and revising so that all students have the opportunity to make a 70% of higher. Essays are graded on their knowledge of the topic, having 3 paragraphs, giving relevant information and facts in the paper, using engaging facts, and having correct spelling and punctuation. Students that already scored above a 79% will have the opportunity to have a genius hour. Genius hour will give students a chance to research and write about anything they're interested in! I've been excited to try this for a few weeks now and hope it inspires some of them to get into writing! Here's more information on genius hour: www.youtube.com/watch?v=COF-bqZuE-I Integrated Studies: This week we are moving from the Civil War. Students should understand that from the American Revolution we created our country's laws (the constitution) and the government and from the Civil War we now have amendments. This week we will go back to focusing on the branches of government and really learn about our local and state representatives! CLASSROOM NEEDS: -We are in need of class snacks!
