Welcome to 4th Grade!
Stay up to date with current events happening in our class!
Hi again! We had a very fun week full of experiments and learning! I am overwhelmed with how many parents/grandparents took time out of their day to come read to us in class! THANK YOU! Also, another thank you to parents for donating supplies Friday! See some pictures from our Science-A-Thon where students had to construct a chair using only newspaper and tape. Lots of hard work and thinking went into that experiment and it was very entertaining!
Here's what's going on this week: In Cougar's Call on Tuesday and Thursday we will continue our targeted Geometry instruction. Other days will be used for vocabluary and grammar practice. In Math we will wrap up our Geometry unit. We will review triangles, quadrilaterals and symmatry. We will finish the week by revisiting area and perimeter. In Literacy we are ending our historical fiction unit. We will use what we learned from our book clubs to close read a shorter historical fiction piece that will help prepare students for the formal assessment. We will review main idea/supporting details, summarizing, setting and plot. On Wednesday we will not swap for literacy,(we have group pictures during this time!) but instead we will take a formal assessment. In Integrated Studies we are beginning a new unit focusing on North Carolina's role in the American Revolution. This weeks focus will be on 5 distict groups that played a special role in the outcome of the Revolution: Edenton Tea Party, Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge, Halifax Resolves, Battle of King's Mountain, and Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Students will have the opporutnity to research one of these groups and present their findings to the class on Thursday.
