Greetings! We've had a great start back packed with tons of reading, math and science activities. Next week is back to normal. Here's what we have to look forward to:
Cougar's Call: Students will receive their January Spelling words and wordly wise 4 packets for the month. Tuesday and Thursday we will switch for flexible math groups. Math: We are starting Unit 7 which is understanding factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers. On Friday, students received a study guide for this short unit. The study guide is due Tuesday, January 16th. Literacy: We are continuing our unit on reading nonfiction, historical text. Monday and Tuesday we will read and talk about using different perspectives to understand literature better. On Tuesday students will have an informal quiz about perspective. On Wednesday and Thursday we will talk more about point of view and read more in depth into the causes and first events in the war. On Friday students will take a formal assessment on historical text. Integrated Studies: We are starting out next unit about American government. We will start the week looking into the causes of the American Revolution and end the week talking about North Carolina's role in the American Revolution. After Tuesday, students will be able to understand what taxes without representation means with a fun hands on edible exercise! This unit is tons of fun so check back next week to see what activities we have planned :) HOMEWORK: -Read 2 and a half hours and log in agenda! -Math Study Guide (due 1/16) ANNOUNCEMENTS: -1/10 - Group Class Picture (uniform required) -1/12 - I will be at a conference this day - students will be with a substitute -1/15 - No School Thank you Mrs. Purdy and Mrs. Lind for coming in last week and reading fun stories to the class!
