Welcome to 4th Grade!
Stay up to date with current events happening in our class!
Hi guys! Sorry this post is a little later than usual - I'm feeling a little under the weather this weekend. Crossing my fingers it's just a cold though! So far, this is the plan for the week:
In Cougar's Call Monday we have Literacy MAP testing. On Tuesday students will take a pretest on the new math unit, Unit 6, on fractions. Wednesday and Thursday will be used for additional Integrated Studies time. Finally, on Friday students will take the Literacy Cycle 3 Assessment. In Math this week we are launching into fractions. The beginning of the week we will look at halves, fourths and eighths. The later part of the week we will learn about thirds and sixths. One page of the homework this week has some fraction practice. If your child needs additional practice as we get started, please let me know! In Literacy we are still focusing on informational nonfiction text. This week we will take a look into perspective and points of view. My literacy swap group has been working with text centered around the American Revolution. This week we will see that there are 2 sides to the story. It's kind of fun! In Writing we are continuing our persuasive writing. Students have an idea for a hook, now they must explain their reasoning. In Integrated Studies the focus question of the week is, What are the rights of North Carolinians based on our Constitution? We will talk a bit about the constitution before moving into North Carolina's role in the Civil War. Announcements: -1/23 MAP Testing -1/27 Cycle 3 Assessment & Clubs -2/6-2/10 Staff Appreciation Week -2/10 Daddy Daughter Dance Homework: -Read 2 and a half hours and log it in agenda -Literacy Packet -Math Packet I will be out of the classroom on Tuesday for a training, but I will still be at school. Plans should stay the same, but I'll let you know otherwise. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!
