Good Afternoon! On Monday and Thursday our class will be participating in creating Raku Pottery. Our class will be scattered throughout the day, so please let me know if you are planning to have your child come in late/leave early/etc. Here's our week's learning:
Math: This week we will wrap up the multiplicative comparison unit and have a formal test on this unit on Thursday 11/8. Students should be comfortable with comparing 2 things and writing comparison equations. We will start making inferences and answering the big W questions (who, what, when, where, why) with nonfiction text. Writing: We will begin our next unit in writing. Students will learn the basics of opinion writing. By the end of the week students will begin drafting an opinionated essay. Integrated Studies: Our next IB unit is called "Where We Are in Place and Time". Students will begin looking at the beginning of North Carolina history and learn about the Native Americans that lived in each region. Students will create a brochure on the different tribes of NC throughout the week. They should be taking notes on a region each day. The brochure will be due for a grade the following week.
