What a fun week it's been! We just wrapped up our discussion on Native Americans of North Carolina and started discussing some of the earliest European explorers that came to North Carolina. Ask your child to show you their blabberize on their chosen explorer- they're so funny! Next week is another short week - here's what we have planned:
Cougar's Call: Monday and Wednesday we will work on vocabulary and spelling practice. Students have received Wordly Wise 3 packets and spelling menus. These will be due Friday 12/1. Math: Next week we are wrapping up our multiplication unit. We will work most of next week on word problems to prepare for the formal unit test Thursday. The study guide is due Wednesday so we can discuss tricky problems. Literacy: In Literacy groups students will begin a research project. Students will research, note take, and write a research paper on a topic of their choice. Each day will have a different focus so that students understand every step of the research. Integrated Studies: On Monday we will learn more about the pirates that came to North Carolina! The rest of the week we will investigate the lost colony of Roanoke. Students will act like CSI detectives to solve the case of where and why the colonists vanished! HOMEWORK: -Math Study Guide due Wednesday!!! -Read 2 and a half hours and log it in agenda -Study November Spelling Words (beautiful, classify, community, communities, electricity, happiness, prettier, your, you're) ANNOUNCEMENTS: -11/9 - Report Cards go home -11/10 - No School -11/16 - School Spelling Bee -11/17 - Clubs WISH LIST: -Broom -6 AAA Batteries -Snacks -Origami Paper
