Welcome to 4th Grade!
Stay up to date with current events happening in our class!
Happy Thanksgiving! I am so very grateful to have each of your children in my class this year!
Math: In math we are continuing the unit on area and perimeter. Today a study guide will be sent home as homework for the week. The formal test on this unit will be Friday, 11/29. If your child needs additional practice let me know. (Khan academy is a great start!) Literacy: In Literacy we are working on determining the main idea and key details in informational text. Some students will be pulled into small groups during Literacy time to review the formal test from 11/22 and have the option to retake the test for a higher grade on Friday. Writing: Students are starting their persuasive writing this week. On Monday students will work on a graphic organizer (which will be taken for an informal grade!). This organizer will help them gather thoughts on what topic they will write about throughout the week. (This writing piece will be the basis for the writing Conventions, Fluency, Content, and Organization for Quarter 2 grades) Integrated Studies: We will introduce the first take home project of the year! This project is called the "Footprints in History" project. All information for the project is sent in cougar folders. Please read over the project packet and let me know if you have questions or need supplies. **If you would like to donate supplies for students in need, my bank account would be forever grateful!** The remainder of the week will be spent studying the pioneers and colonists of North Carolina. Students will get to act like crime scene investigators to figure out what happened to the colonists of Roanoke Island! This, as well as a short 2 paragraph reflection will be due for a grade on Thursday, 11/29. HOMEWORK: -Math Study Guide! -Read & track in agenda -Footprints Project!
