Welcome to 4th Grade!
Stay up to date with current events happening in our class!
Happy Friday C3 Families!
I have truly enjoyed meeting with you all this past week. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me and talk! This week was a bit hectic with the Early Release day and conferences, but it's good practice because next week is even crazier! Here's what we have to look forward to: In Cougar's Call we will be alternating between reviewing current Math (rounding, place value, comparing numbers with <, >, =, addition/subtraction with numbers up to 100,000) and Literacy (traits, theme, summarizing) for the upcoming tests. Literacy Unit 1 test is Friday, October 21st and Math Unit 5 will be Monday, October 24th. Both assessments will be formal grades and heavily wighted. In Math next week we will go over the multiple methods of subtraction. Students will review the basics, then apply using numbers up to 100,000. On Wednesday, students will take an informal quiz numbers up to 100,000. On Friday Math Study Guides are due. We will review the packet as a class. Students will take the study guides back home over the weekend to study for the test Monday. In Literacy we will focus on Close Reading (a skill that enables students to think about the text in a thoughtful and methodically manner.) Throughout the week they will be text detectives that must highlight important information and may be necessary in order to summarize the text or identify the theme. The formal Literacy assessment is on Friday! (If you and your child would like some extra study time, list some of your favorite movies or books of all time together. Try to identify some of the common themes or verbally have your child summarize.) In Integrated Studies we are trying to fit in all the Biz-Town units before the big day! Now that students know what their job will be at Biz-Town, they will meet with other 4th grade students in their same business. Students will continue to practice writing checks, balancing accounts, and learning how to organize a successful business. On Thursday we will go to Biz-Town! On Friday students will have their first club day from 3:15-4:00! ANNOUNCEMENTS: 10/17 - Students may purchase books at the Book Fair Monday morning during Cougar's Call time.
